At the end of September 2016, Rohit and I were blessed with a beautiful little girl. As the days, weeks and months have passed, it occurs to me how lucky our little one is by being born to us in the UK. The opportunities afforded to her will be endless: education, food, shelter, healthcare. What more can a parent ask for their little one than to be healthy, loved and safe.
I then turn my mind to the children at Bethesda and I remember the stories told to me by Theresa and Joycee. Girls and boys from broken homes, facing poverty and abuse. Some abandoned by their parents due to circumstance, others abandoned deliberately because they are girls. Their short young lives blighted by traumatic experiences. Experiences that no person, no child should ever face. When I look at my innocent little girl, I am very grateful that we have the ability to offer her tender love and care.
It is with that in mind that drives us at Afirm to continue in our pursuit to create an atmosphere of love, peace and happiness. To produce young people who are strong, independent and caring. If we can changes their lives to be better, we can create a more beautiful generation. Help us to be part of that journey. Frederick Douglass an abolitionist and statesman said:
“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”
